1. Who are We?

Return2Sleep is a website product offered by the Department of Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Manitoba and designed to provide education and support to Manitobans over the age of majority and affected by health conditions. Return2Sleep does not constitute mental health counseling.

2. Limitations and Protections

The material found on this Website is protected by copyright. Certain names, graphics, logos, icons, designs, words, titles or phrases on this Website may constitute trade names, trademarks or service marks. Trademarks may be registered in Canada and in other countries, as applicable. The display of trademarks on pages of this Website does not imply that a license of any kind has been granted.

Although considerable care has been taken in preparing and maintaining the information and materials contained on this Website, they are provided on an "as is" basis, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, with respect to the accuracy or completeness of the information and the Department of Clinical Health Psychology does not assume any responsibility or liability whatsoever for publishing them herein.

In using this Website, you agree that the Department of Clinical Health Psychology shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever (including indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages and loss of profits, opportunities or information) arising from (a) your use of or reliance on information contained on this Website; (b) any inaccuracy or omission in such information or failure to keep the information current; (c) use of any third-party web sites linked or referred to in this Website; (d) any Internet software used in connection with this Website or computer viruses or other destructive programs encountered as a result of using this Website; and (e) any other matter connected with the Website, even if the Department of Clinical Health Psychology is made aware of the possibility of such claims, damages or losses.

3. Data storage (security, access, retention policy)

Data you enter into Return2Sleep will be used to help us to evaluate the population that we are serving and to maintain and/or improve the website. You are free to decline to submit information.

Data will be stored for a period of 6-12 months at a secure hosting site in Toronto, Ontario (DigitalOcean) and for a period of 10 years in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (PZ-350 Psychealth, 771 Bannatyne Avenue). Access to such data is limited to psychology staff in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology, and an assigned Web Developer. Your name or address will not be stored anywhere on this site.  All data will be stored in encrypted files and in locked filing cabinets.  Data will be securely destroyed and disposed of after the 10 year period. 

The online questionnaires used in this study are hosted by DigitalOcean. If you choose to participate in the survey, you understand that your responses to the survey questions will be stored in Toronto, Ontario. Also, DigitalOcean may collect certain information automatically from your device. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, clickstream data, landing page, and referring URL. To collect this information, a cookie may be set on your computer or device when you visit our Services. 4. Risks and Benefits

The type of approach used on this site is termed cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). The potential benefits of this approach are to inform you of skills that may lessen your symptoms and/or assist you in coping with chronic symptoms. Lastly, it is convenient, private, and anonymous.

The risks associated with Return2Sleep include the possibility of limited or no improvement in your symptoms despite your best efforts, and lack of access to others with a similar type of problem who could provide extra motivation to participate in the program and support you in your recovery. Other sources of help for this problem may include your family physician and/or in-person services in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology. We do not identify detailed causes of your problems on this site and this program is not a substitute for in-person treatment which should be carried out by a qualified healthcare professional.

5. Confidentiality

We will strive to keep your information confidential, although complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Your name and address will not be stored anywhere on this site.

6. In Emergency

If you are in a crisis situation, you should go to the Crisis Response Center (817 Bannatyne Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba), an emergency room of your local hospital, and/or contact your family physician. This site is not intended to replace professional help.

7. Technology Maintenance Plan

From time to time, this site will be disabled for planned maintenance. When that occurs, you will have additional time with the program upon your return.

8. Outcome Evaluation

We will use the number of visits and your feedback to help us to evaluate this program and to make future modifications to the site to improve user experience. There is no external funding source for this site.

9. Corrections

If you would like to make a correction to data that you have entered into Return2Sleep, you may do so by contacting the Department of Clinical Health Psychology‘s online coordinator, (204 787-5098). You can request a copy of your complete record in writing, addressed to Online Coordinator, Clinical Health Psychology, PZ-350, 771 Bannatyne Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3E 3N4. Please include two photocopied pieces of identification. We will respond within 30 days.
